Summary

CVE-1999-0864 is a vulnerability affecting UnixWare systems. This issue permits local users to manipulate files through a symlink attack on the ./core.pid file. When UnixWare programs experience a core dump, the ./core.pid file is created, and an attacker can exploit this by creating a symbolic link to a sensitive file and modifying its contents while the program is in a state of core dump. This vulnerability can potentially lead to serious data corruption or unauthorized access. System administrators should take immediate steps to patch their UnixWare installations to mitigate this risk.
