Summary
CVE-1999-0774 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the Mars NetWare Emulation (NWE) package in NetWare systems. This issue arises when the software encounters long directory names, resulting in excess data being written beyond the intended buffer. An attacker could exploit this glitch by crafting specially crafted directory names and tricking a targeted system into processing them. The surplus data could potentially overwrite critical system information, leading to unintended behavior or crashes, and in severe cases, provide an attacker with the ability to execute arbitrary code.
