Summary
CVE-1999-0740 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the Linux in.telnetd telnet daemon. Malicious users can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted TERM environmental variable to the daemon. The vulnerability results in the daemon consuming excessive resources, leading to a denial-of-service condition. This issue was identified back in 1999 and poses a risk to systems running the affected version of in.telnetd. System administrators should update their software or apply patches to mitigate this vulnerability.
