Summary

CVE-1999-0732 is a vulnerability affecting the Debian smtp-refuser package's logging facility. Maliciously crafted symbolic links can be used by local users to delete arbitrary files, posing a significant security risk. This issue was discovered back in 1999 and could potentially lead to data loss or system instability. The logging functionality, which was intended to record and monitor email activity, inadvertently provided an unintended means for file deletion. Users of Debian systems with this vulnerable version of smtp-refuser should upgrade to a patched version as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
