Summary

CVE-1999-0698 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the IP protocol logger (ippl) software on Red Hat and Debian Linux systems. A maliciously crafted IP packet can cause the ippl process to consume excessive system resources, leading to a denial-of-service condition. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted IP packets to the affected system, rendering it unresponsive to legitimate network traffic.
