Summary
CVE-1999-0683 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Gauntlet Firewall. Maliciously crafted ICMP packets can be used to cause the firewall to become unresponsive, resulting in a denial-of-service condition. The vulnerability arises due to an error in handling ICMP messages, allowing attackers to exploit it and cause the Gauntlet Firewall to crash. This can disrupt network traffic and prevent legitimate access to protected resources until the affected device is restarted.
