Summary

CVE-1999-0412 is a critical vulnerability affecting Internet Information Services (IIS) and other web servers. If a server is configured to run as the SYSTEM account and loads a malicious ISAPI (Internet Server Application Programming Interface) extension, an attacker can exploit this flaw to gain SYSTEM-level access. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as SYSTEM-level access grants attackers full control over the affected system. It is strongly recommended that affected servers be updated or configured to run with limited privileges to mitigate this threat.
