Summary

CVE-1999-0235 refers to a buffer overflow vulnerability in NCSA WebServer versions 1.4.1 and below. This issue allows remote attackers to exploit the server and gain unauthorized access. The vulnerability is due to an improperly handled input in the server's Common Gateway Interface (CGI) function, resulting in a buffer overflow condition. Attackers can take advantage of this flaw by sending specially crafted data to the server, leading to arbitrary code execution and subsequent system compromise. This vulnerability was identified more than two decades ago and has since been addressed in subsequent NCSA WebServer versions. However, it serves as a reminder of the importance of keeping software updated to mitigate potential security risks.
