Summary

CVE-1999-0053 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting FreeBSD systems. The issue resides in the TCP stack, allowing an attacker to send specially crafted packets to initiate a TCP RST (Reset) flood. This results in a resource consumption issue, causing the system to become unresponsive and potentially crash. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a large number of such packets to a targeted FreeBSD system, resulting in a denial-of-service condition. System administrators are advised to update their FreeBSD installations with the appropriate patches to mitigate this risk.
